About us
A pink elephant in a green garden

Our place
Under an open timber roof hung with woven lanterns, Pink Elephant mixes whitewashed walls, dark wood tables, hot-pink cushions and a lot of plants. It's cool at lunchtime and glows in the evening, when the lamps come on and the bar gets busy.
The kitchen cooks Sri Lankan and international food side by side: whole red snapper and crab with chips, coconut seafood curry, chicken and dambala curries with roti, falafel platters, fresh salads, cooked breakfasts and pancakes. The bar mixes fresh-fruit cocktails until midnight.
Guests have left more than 855 reviews on Google, with an average of 4.4 out of 5. Some write that we've become one of their regular haunts in Unawatuna, and that's the best compliment we can get.

What we care about
How we run the place
Cooked to order
Whole fish, curries and breakfasts are made when you order them, not before.
Island and world on one menu
Rice and curry and roti sit next to falafel, Greek salad and pancakes, so every table finds something.
Room for everyone
Couples, big groups of friends and families with children all share the long wooden tables.
Open when you need us

Plates on the pass, all day
From the first breakfast at 8.30am to dinner service, our kitchen team sends out whole fish, curries, falafel and salads to the dining room and to takeaway customers. Ask your server what's fresh today and they'll point you to the best of it.
